From the Negev desert in southern Israel to Paris and, ultimately, New York City, guitarist and composer Yuval Amihai (Yuvi) has built his musical life across three countries. In his early 20s, he moved to Paris, where he won several awards, including Best Composer and Best Ensemble at the La Défense Jazz Festival national competition. During his years in Paris, he released his first three albums - Yuval Amihai Ensemble (2012), Longing (2015), and I Ain’t Got Nothin’ But The Blues (2018).

In early 2018, Yuvi moved to New York City and made it his new home. He quickly became an integral part of the New York jazz scene, performing and leading his bands at iconic venues such as Smalls Jazz Club, Mezzrow, and Fat Cat (now known as Cellar Dog). He was among the first musicians to perform at Ornithology Jazz Club, which has since become one of Brooklyn’s most vibrant epicenters for live jazz, and has anchored a monthly Saturday night residency there since 2022. That year, he also released his fourth album, My 90s Summer.

Today, Yuvi’s musical life is deeply rooted in New York. While continuing his monthly residency at Ornithology and performing at venues across the city, he has established a regular outdoor Sunday residency at C&B in his East Village neighborhood, where music has become part of the rhythm of the street and the community around it, as well as a monthly jazz night at Alphabet City Beer Co. He maintains an active private teaching studio, both in person and online, and joined the guitar faculty at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music in 2024.

Yuvi is currently writing new music for his next album, with plans to record and release it in 2027.
